Welcome to the engagement portal for the Kingston Arts Precinct—a place to find out about the design development for the future new home for Canberra’s arts community and the destination to experience contemporary arts and culture.

About the Precinct

Section 49 in the Kingston Foreshore has a rich industrial history and has been an important and varied destination for Canberrans.

For some time the precinct has been recognised as presenting a rare opportunity to create a very special legacy—one that will inspire, move and influence people for generations to come. Redevelopment and urban renewal of this exceptional destination will make a new home for our arts community—a memorable place with a unique and distinct character that celebrates the precinct’s history and its future.

In 2017 Geocon was successful in the tender for the design and development of the Kingston Arts Precinct. While the winning tender presented a potential proposal for masterplanning for the site, the team is only now beginning detailed design development. The tender concept is a reflection of the precinct’s potential and provides a foundation for the next important stage of community engagement working towards a final masterplan and the detailed design concept planning for the precinct.

We are at the very beginning of this exciting design journey and look forward to working with stakeholders and the community to realise the Kingston Arts Precinct.
